IAM Legacy Giving Program

The IAM Legacy Giving Program helps you build a lasting legacy. It is a community of passionate individuals who have included a legacy gift in their Will, directed to The Canadian Institute for Advancements in Mental Health. These individuals enjoy special opportunities to deepen their support for mental health in Canada.

IAM provides support to individuals, families, and caregivers at the moment they decide to seek help. From personalized one-on-one support to cognitive behavioral therapy, recovery programs, family education, and support groups, we strive to offer a comprehensive network of care.

At IAM, we believe in a community that works together to support people with mental illness and expand opportunities for better mental health for all. We want all Canadians to access the necessary care and resources they deserve.

When people support us, whether by talking about our work or donating, it helps propel the organization’s efforts to address pressing mental health issues, fund essential programs and services, and pioneer new solutions that make a tangible difference in the lives of those living with mental health conditions.

In essence, your Legacy Gift is not just about backing a cause; it fosters a community where mental health support is accessible, innovative solutions thrive, and impactful change resonates for years to come.

Legacy Gift Options:

For further discussions on legacy gifts, feel free to reach out regarding:

  • A Gift of Cash: Whether specifying a set amount or a percentage of your estate’s net residue, supporting a charity in your Will through a bequest is a common and impactful way to leave a lasting gift.
  • A Gift of Securities: Donating publicly listed securities can bring substantial tax benefits. Your estate will receive a greater tax benefit—a donation receipt to help reduce taxes owed, plus the elimination of taxes you would normally pay on capital gains. • Registered Fund Contributions: Opting to donate remaining amounts from your RRSPs, RRIFs, or TFSAs to charity is a straightforward and flexible method of giving, easily managed by updating your fund provider’s beneficiary form.
  • Life Insurance Gifts: Name charities as beneficiaries of your life insurance policy or consider purchasing a new policy and transferring ownership to a charity. This transfer treats your premium payment as a donation, providing a receipt for immediate tax benefits. Remember, naming a charity as a beneficiary of registered funds in Quebec must be done through your Will, not a beneficiary form.

At IAM, your gift will uphold our core values and continue to support the mental health community.
